My parents moved from Yugoslavia\/Serbia for a better life for their future children,<strong>&#8220;<\/strong> she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maxim.com.au\/archives\/16762\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><strong>said during her 2021 Maxim Australia interview<\/strong><\/a>. This <strong>cultural foundation<\/strong> shaped her strong work ethic and family values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Miketin family<\/strong> experienced both success and hardship. Her brother serves in the <strong>U.S. Air Force<\/strong>, while her <strong>sister Tina<\/strong> uses a wheelchair after a <strong>drunk driving accident<\/strong> at age 18.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her parents owned rental properties and taught all three children about business from a young age. This early exposure to <strong>real estate<\/strong> and customer service would later influence Katarina&#8217;s own business ventures. She initially planned to attend law school after graduation. Her academic performance opened doors to competitive graduate programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many people doubted she could gain acceptance to <strong>Northwestern University&#8217;s<\/strong> <strong>Kellogg School of Management<\/strong>. <strong>&#8220;<\/strong>A lot of people, and I mean a lot, told me I couldn&#8217;t get into the program. All of this negativity fueled me more,<strong>&#8220;<\/strong> she <strong>told Maxim Australia<\/strong> about getting into Northwestern&#8217;s MBA program. In 2015, she graduated with an <strong>MBA in Finance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;<\/strong>One of the proudest moments of my life was having my family fly to Chicago to watch me graduate,<strong>&#8220;<\/strong> she <strong>shared with Maxim Australia<\/strong> about her MBA graduation.
